Spain's national team coach, Luis de la Fuente, faced a painful setback during the Cyprus match on Thursday, part of the qualifiers for Euro 2024's ninth round.
In the 38th minute, Mikel Oyarzabal, a midfielder for La Roja, fell to the ground, affected by an injury, and was unable to continue the game.
De la Fuente made his first forced substitution after 40 minutes, with Oyarzabal exiting the field and Rodrigo Riquelme from Atletico Madrid coming in. It marked Riquelme's debut with the Spanish national team.
Mikel Oyarzabal had previously scored the second goal for the Spanish team against Cyprus.
It's worth noting that Spain won the match against Cyprus with a score of 3-1.
